There are significant benefits for your pets as well as advantages for you when you choose to hire a professional pet sitter instead of boarding them.
BENEFITS FOR THEM
– Your pets will stay at their home where all the smells, sights, and sounds are familiar to them. At a boarding kennel, they will be exposed to strong disinfectants and they will be surrounded by people and other pets they are not used to.
– They will keep their daily routines, being fed and walked at the same time they normally do every day. At a boarding kennel, they are fed and walked when it is their turn, not necessarily meaning when they need to. At most of these places it takes 14 to 16 hours overnight for them to be able to relieve themselves; some of them will be able to “hold it” but many others will not and may spend hours sitting on their urine and/or feces until it is their turn to “get some attention”.
– If your pets are on medication, take into consideration that at many boarding kennels (veterinary clinics included) , the staff in charge of administering medications while your pets are boarding is inexperienced and/or careless. This may result in your pets missing one or more doses of an important medication or even worse, they may be overdosed.
– They will not be confined to a small enclosure.
– If you have pets of different species who are attached to each other, they will not have to go through the trauma of being separated in addition to the stress of being taken away from home.
– They will not be overexposed to external/internal parasites or contagious diseases.
– They will not be required to get vaccines they don’t really need.
– The ones that do not like car rides will not have to deal with that stress.

– You will have peace of mind knowing that your pets are stress free and happy at home, getting the individual attention they deserve. A detailed visit log will be filled out on every visit but you can also request to get as many updates as you would like (texts, pictures, emails).
– You will spend less and get a better service that if you board your pets at a boarding facility or veterinary clinic.
– You will not have the inconvenience of having to drop them off, carrying their beds, toys, food, etc and then having to pick them up.
– No unexpected charges upon your return because your pets got sick. Although is not impossible that your pet could get sick even staying at home, most of the health problems that occur to pets while boarding are stress related.
– You will not have to pay for an extra day if you are leaving and/or getting back on a weekend, a holiday, or late at night. Your pets will be right there at home, welcoming you as you open the door!
– Your home is going to look like lived in and will be taken care of. At your request, blinds will be opened/closed and lights will be turned on/off as they usually are; your mail/packages/newspaper will be picked up, your garbage/recycle bins will be taken to/from the curb, your plants will be watered, etc.
